The Weapons of Mass Distraction Project will stage a mock television news broadcast complete with roving reporters, anchorpersons and a giant television during the 5th anniversary of the protests against the 1999 World Trade Organization in Seattle. Once a prosperous nation on the cusp of the first world, economic deregulation bankrupted the country almost overnight, leaving hundreds and hundreds of abandoned factories. In the past couple years, however, the armies of unemployed workers have started a major movement to retake these factories and start up production. The Nation's Naomi Klein and liberal radio commentator Avi Lewis' documentary THE TAKE is an alarmingly inspiring film that looks at this movement on both personal and national levels. Lewis will be in town to present the film, which runs from Nov. 26 - Dec at the non-profit Northwest Film Forum on Capitol Hill.  more...

The March & Rally called by Not In Our Name, A.N.S.W.E.R., Hate Free Zone, Veterans Against the War & others that is described here for Nov 25th was held on Novemebr 6th. Since then, Not In Our Name has been at Westlake every saturday afternoon and many have been protesting the war, occupation and increased assault on Falujah. This duplicate posting was an error and several attempts were made to remove it.
