Friday Night At The Meaningful Movies: “EASY ROLLIN' “ & “RETURN OF THE SCORCHER”
Two Films: EASY ROLLIN' (17 min, Hadas Levy and Marianne Bos, 2004), and: RETURN OF THE SCORCHER (28 min, Ted White, 1992) -
Come Celebrate ‘Bike To Work Day/Month' with THE CASCADE BICYCLE CLUB. Transportation, biking, & energy! May 19th is Bike To Work Day. EASY ROLLIN' is a fun look at creative transportation alternatives. As cars continue to congest the streets of cities and fill the lungs of their inhabitants with exhaust, a small group of Vancouver citizens has found a funky way to bring together their environmental, social, and artistic ideals. They chop bikes together, making some truly amazing and hilarious cycles, and host block parties where everything, even the deejay table, is powered by spinning pedals. EASY ROLLIN' looks at a unique community of cycling enthusiasts in Vancouver, seeking out ways to bring together their environmental and artistic ideals, as in promoting green transportation and breathing in fresh air at the same time.
RETURN OF THE SCORCHER chronicles the history of the bicycle from its early days when it was known as "the scorcher" due to its speed to its current recreational use in the U.S. and as a popular mode of transportation in other countries.
